Earth's Child, by Daniel Aristi

Earth's Child

Up
Through the pine needles
I see Dame Night’ s one eye
Her Cyclopean
Bright
Moonocle   Beyond this orb’ s
Fullness
Lie the stars
So many   And I comprehend
Suddenly
The void immense
Between I
And them   Quick
A roof!
A roof, and four walls
While I await tremulous
The blissful deception
Of a morning’ s blue sky   For a thousand sons from now
We’ ll plough the Sun
We’ ll travel to quasars
But me
I still am only
Earth’ s child
